What hope looks like
Laundry at Next Generation Boys Home in Tijuana, Mexico. Luis, his wife and other staff pour their lives into 15 boys who have no family, day in and day out, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They teach them, guide them, and love them, in both practical and profound ways. It's anything but glamorous, a job so hard I can hardly imagine. What I can imagine though is God smiling on this place, and how lives are being formed in positive, impactful ways, one day at a time. This is what hope looks like.

Critical Mass
Critical Mass isn't a bike ride. It's equal parts cycling, insanity, and unbridled enthusiasm that teeters on anarchy, as thousands of cyclists of every shape and size, riding every imaginable kind of cycle, many in costume, turn out at the Balboa Park Fountain on the last Friday night of every month. The mass of riders then descend on the city of San Diego, completely shutting down streets, intersections, and in some cases entire sections of the city. I've heard enthusiastic supporters of the ride, cursing drivers, and grumbling police that seem to do their best to create the closest thing to safety and peace between the mass anarchy of riders and the city they disrupt. It was awesome.
